It’s fall, the perfect time of year to start craving everything apples. Apple pie, caramel apple, apple rolls. You know when its late at night and all you want is a snack that is quick to whip up but has that yummy home-made taste, I can’t be the only one that gets these cravings often. Well I devoured pinterest and came across a few recipes and started looking into my cupboards and fridge to see what I had available and created my own- altered/combined recipe of an Apple Cinnamon Rolls. You can save $1.00 using this coupon on the cinnamon Rolls
Chores are an excellent way to teach children responsibility as well as being a part of the family and contributing. One thing I have noticed with children is the desire to help out so I knew I wanted to teach her things while she still had this desire. We started some of these chores around the age of 1 but thought I would write a list of a few chores we have her do and most 2 year olds are capable of doing.
2 Year Old Chore List
Wipe up spills
We started this early- around 1 1/2 years old- every time she would spill something on the floor I would give her something to help wipe it up- sometimes she would go into the drawer and get a towel herself as well to help clean it up. She doesn’t always do the best job and I often have to go after her and finish cleaning it up but I love that she knows that if something spills she needs to clean it up.
Pick up her toys & books
This task isn’t always easy- she gets distracted very easily when picking up her toys and will sit down and start playing. I probably end up cleaning most of the toys up but I do like knowing that she can do it. There are times that I tell her I will not help to pick them up and make her do them herself. I think it is good to teach them that you are not there to serve their every desire. If they make a mess it is their responsibility to clean it up.
Make her bed
Thanks to Beddys bedding this is an easy task. I think a made bed makes the room but how hard would it be for a 2 year old to always make that bed when I can’t even seem to make my own all the time- thanks to the zipper feature she is able to zip her bed made and she loves doing it as well.
Brush her teeth
I am a dental hygienist so this one is extremely important to me and I love that she wants to do it. Obviously I go in and do it as well but I love that she wants to brush them herself. It will create a healthy habit for when she is a teenager and older.
Throw away her garbage
Another task that she has loved since a young age. She often asks to throw away our garbage. I wanted to teach her to not leave her trash everywhere for me to find. Outside I do not allow her to leave her garbage all over the yard either. There are times that we eat outside and she will get distracted and want to run off and play but I still make her throw things away. Hoping it will help to prevent littering in the future as well
Feed the cats
This chore more came about from her begging to do it. We help her with this task and measure out the amount the cats need but she goes and puts it in their bowls. She often goes and calls for the cats to come to dinner as well if they aren’t already up in the kitchen begging for it.
I’m not ready to let go of summer quite yet. I enjoy winter but ever since becoming a parent each changing of the seasons makes me sad- realizing how quickly time is flying with my babies. So having this Welchs box arrive the other day was the perfect pick me up that we needed. I laid out a fun picnic blanket on the floor and let Olivia open the box up- one of her favorite things to do lately. I was as excited as her. I mean look how cute these pineapple cups are.
Now I am not a fan of coconut water- I have tried to give it a chance several times. I felt left out since everyone was talking about how much they loved it and how beneficial it was for you. I just couldn’t get over the taste. I was a little nervous to try Welchs new Coconut Water drinks but I thought if I was going to like anything with coconut water this would be it. Honestly I love it. I am not the only one either- Olivia is asking for her fun drink all the time.
Being a dental hygienist I usually don’t give my daughter a lot of drinks other than milk and water. I even try to limit the milk but I don’t feel guilty about giving into her with this. It has 30% LESS sugar and only 100 calories per serving. With every 8 oz drink you are getting 2 servings of fruit. As a busy mom this is helping me feel less guilty when I give her a juice knowing that it has benefits to it.
Go to their website and you can search what retailers have this new product available. We were able to find them at our local Target Store- which come on-every mom loves going to Target so tell your husband to watch the kids because you need to go pick up a healthy juice with coconut water.
The girls and I got to spend the weekend up in Park City, Utah last weekend while we spent some time with their cousins. It was the perfect girl weekend- even the pets are girls. After packing up the entire house between a 6 month old and a 2 1/2 year old I wanted to make sure to pack lightly for myself. A few items that I had recently gotten were perfect for this weekend trip. I was able to wear the outfit together or wear the pieces with other things- keeping my luggage to a minimum. Take a look at how I wore them throughout the weekend and shop the items below.
Last weekend was the first day of fall and as this might look like the perfect fall day I must add that when we woke up that morning we woke up to snow. It was extremely cold up there yet I was perfectly fine running around in these leggings- I had gotten the Cuddle Duds fleece leggings and at first I was nervous that they might be too thick looking. You know how leggings are usually skin tight- so I didn’t want them to look to thick. Well they are perfect, they are thick and soft enough that I didn’t feel cold at all on my legs yet thin enough to give me that cute leggings look. I am extremely happy with that product.
The Cuddl Duds maroon shirt got worn several times, I wore it with jeans, just the shirt and leggings and once it really cooled down I added a grey cardigan. Which I must add that I have been wearing every single night around the house since I got it- this fall weather has hit us fast. It is so comfy I feel like I am wearing a robe- yet cute enough that I look like I put some effort into myself that day. You can pick these Cuddl Duds items and more up at your local JCPenney.
Being a mom I seem to always be in a hurry. Where did all of my time go before children, I thought I was busy than but I can’t quite remember what I was busy with. Add trying to keep your milk supply up and constantly eating healthy things on the list and you can feel overwhelmed. Something that I love to have lying around are healthy snacks that I can grab on the go or while I am trying to wrangle one of my wild ones. That is what I love about these Dannon® Oikos® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks I know I am getting a healthy snack but I don’t have to waste a lot of time preparing it.
As a breastfeeding mama protein is really key to keep my supply up- I love that these have 10 g of protein per 7 oz drink with no added sugars. This drink is an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D as well as 9 essential amino acids that your body needs but can’t produce itself.
My husband is trying to be more healthy as well and has been packing lunches for work instead of eating out all the time- it is convenient for him to have these healthier options in the house to choose from. Thank goodness these drinks come in a 4 pack that we picked up at our local Walmart, making sure we are stocked up.
Who doesn’t like to save money on their everyday purchases as well. I started using an app a few months ago that has made my regular shopping a little more budget friendly. Have you heard of the site/app Ibotta? I take photos of my receipts that the app accepts (which is quite a lot) and can get savings that way. When you use this app you are able to save a $1.00 when you buy Dannon® Light & Fit® or Dannon® Oikos® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks
Some other snacks that I love to have available to help give me an extra boost are:
Many of you that follow me on social media or this blog now know that I am a huge fan of Evivo Probiotics. This is the 3rd time that I have mentioned them on my blog in the last few months. If you are new here I will explain something before going into this post.
My daughter was born and was extremely upset- all the time- the doctor tried telling me that every baby has an upset time during the night but this was more than that. You could tell she was in pain. I than started to notice the smell- that acidic smell coming from her and I instantly knew that she had acid reflux. We took her in and one of the first things the pediatrician recommend that I try was a probiotic. The probiotic that we started her on helped but wasn’t doing enough- so we ended up getting her on medication. Good news is that she became an instantly new baby- the relief she was getting was amazing.
Anyways after reading about all the benefits that the probiotic had for my daughter and than witnessing changes in her for the better after being on it, I started thinking more about my own health and reasons why I should be taking a probiotic.
I am now on a probiotic as well and completely understand why she seems like a whole new baby once being on the correct probiotic. Like I mentioned above- the one we tried first made improvements but once we got on Evivo she was a completely different, happy baby. Every new mama that I meet- I mention to them that they need Evivo and a dockatot, haha, my 2 favorite baby products.
As hard as breastfeeding is, because come on ladies lets face it breastfeeding can be a really hard journey, I was looking forward to it so much with my second. I missed those tender moments of just the two of you cuddled up quiet somewhere while you provided life for this child once again. Having them look up at you with this look (you know the one) is so tender it just melts your heart. I missed those moments so much with Olivia and couldn’t wait to experience them once again with Ryan.
This journey has been completely different though. Right from the start something just seemed off with Ryan. She attached wonderfully and my milk came in great- that wasn’t the issue- but she was spitting up a lot. The nurses kept telling me I wasn’t burping her hard enough which I probably wasn’t but I knew that wasn’t it. Ended up she had to have her stomach suctioned out from possibly swallowing some fluid during birth.
So I thought everything would be ok after that, but it wasn’t. The spitting up continued- which I know is normal for some kids but I just knew it wasn’t normal for us. This calm and snuggly baby would start to get extremely stiff and get very upset. We would have rough nights where she would just scream and the only thing that would calm her was to nurse her but than it was a vicious cycle all over again. I started to notice that the spit up smelt acidic to me as well.
After the doctor finally realizing that something was probably wrong I was recommended to cut out dairy and to put Ryan on a probiotic. I had never thought of putting my baby on a probiotic before. I’ve heard of so many adults starting to take probiotics but for some reason you think infants should stick to breastmilk or formula and nothing else. After looking into probiotics more I was contacted by Evivo to try out their probiotic. These are some things that I have learned about their product after looking into it more.
97% of North American babies are born with out B. infantis- which are the good bacteria.
why is it important to have this B. infantis in your babies gut- when present your babies gut is in its best most natural original state. They help to keep harmful bacteria from growing. With this high rate of babies not having it present they believe that is why there has been an increase with eczema, allergies, obesity, and diabetes in babies.
Evivo is the first and only product of its kind, clinically proven to restore a healthy gut. Evivo is a daily probiotic powder with activated B. infantis- once mixed with breastmilk and given to baby- helps to release nutrients in the breastmilk creating an internal environment in your babies gut, developing the immune system and creating a foundation for good health for life.
Maximize every bit of your breastmilk Evivo captures all the special carbohydrates from your breastmilk which are called HMOs (human milk oligosaccharides) that might be otherwise lost. Evivo consumes these HMOs in a unique and superior way to grow and protect your babies gut microbiome. Evivo than converts the HMOs into important nutrients that feed your baby and enriching gut microbiome. This significantly reduces the potentially harmful bacteria in your baby.
After finding all of this out I wish I would have discovered this product sooner. What parent wouldn’t want to support a healthy gut environment setting their child up for a long and healthy life. I highly encourage you to at least go to Evivo’s website and read about it for yourself. Educating ourselves will only benefit our children one way or another. I had been searching for a photographer in Salt Lake City that did milk bath photo sessions and wasn’t having any luck. I am a true believe that if you put something out in the universe and truly want it than the universe will find a way to make it happen and guess what- the universe did not disappoint.
About a month after searching and having no luck an amazing photographer Annette from Ginormous Sky contacting me asking if I would model for her. She had recently found a passion for milk bath sessions and wanted to build up her portfolio. I was thrilled and quickly accepted. Now never having met Annette I was pretty nervous- not necessarily being in a bath in front of a stranger- anyone that has given birth will understand that you become fully comfortable about certain things afterwards. At least I did- mmmm can we talk about lactation specialists grabbing at your boobs, doctors and nurses all up in your business, a nurse helping you go to the bathroom and clean up- have I somewhat prepared you for what post delivery will be like?
Anyways… back to the subject of these gorgeous photos that Annette did- I was nervous because I didn’t know what to expect once meeting her. Were we going to like each other, was she going to know what she was doing, was she going to be fun to be around and make me feel at ease. Making your client feel at ease is something really important for a photographer- you want to look normal and relaxed in your photos. Instantly meeting her I felt so comfortable- she gave me a big hug and just started talking like we had met several times before. I am so thankful for that bubbly personality- putting my nerves at rest. Now lets just jump into the photos and show you what an amazing job she did. You would never know that this was a NEW passion of hers.
Thank you so much Annette– I will cherish these images for the rest of my life.
I love sharing about small shops. I love finding and support new ones and they often have unique items that I get questions about all the time. This adorable shop Koowawa is no exception to that. Now I am obsessed with adorable socks for my kids. My husband the other day actually begged me to just buy plain old white socks so that he can always find a match. Nope- sorry honey- this is my chance to dress these little ones up as adorable as I want to.
Now searching for cute socks I have found an odd pair here or there – but Koowawa has one of the largest selections of cute kids socks that I have found. I was also thrilled to find them in different sizes so I could live out my fantasy of dressing both my girls alike as well. Just look at the photos below of how cute they are and this is just 2 different pairs. I’m tempted to buy most of them just because but this mama is on maternity leave and needs to be careful with the funds. Go give them a look though- I bet you will find several pairs you love.
Dockatot– deluxe: We got the dockatot grand for Olivia when she was around 9 months old, I was desperate for a goodnight sleep and loved what I had read from other moms. I researched about them and loved knowing that every part is breathable- when you’ve got a baby that loves to stuff her face into the covers or sleep on her belly this was a big issue for me. The first few nights she wasn’t sure about it- it was something new and I was nervous that I had just wasted my money, but after that once I would lay her down she would snuggle to her comfort spot and go right to sleep. I knew we hit the jackpot but especially when we started to go to friends homes during her naptime or staying over at grandma’s house to visit. I dreaded trying to put her to sleep in a new area but with the dockatot that is familiar for her so she would fall a sleep pretty quickly. I knew that with our second child this would be one of our first purchases we made.
Owlet: Do you or did you every just stare at your baby sleeping and wonder if they were even alive? Well I use to all the time- I remember the first time she slept through the whole night I woke up in a panic thinking she had to be dead. I just sat there and stared at her for a few minutes. She wasn’t moving and it looked like she wasn’t even breathing. I started to stroke her face and poke at her until she moved just a little to make sure she was alive. I would wake up in the middle of the night and have to check on her even though she was in the same room as me. I feared I missed her struggle or cry for help. About 9-10 months later I heard about this new baby monitor called the Owlet and I knew I was getting it with my next child. This little sock sits on the babies foot and will monitor their oxygen level and heart rate. I think this is a must for all parents but especially little ones that have been in the NICU.
The Ollie Swaddle: I hated trying to swaddle Olivia up only to have her untangle it soon after but the velcro swaddles that I got from Target were annoying to me as well. When Olivia would wake up in the middle of the night and need a diaper change I would have to unswaddle the entire thing waking her up in the process. There were times she would start crying so loud my husband would come in wondering if he needed to step in and help- nope dear just trying to change her diaper, she will be fine once she is warm and swaddled again. This swaddle you can keep the baby all nice and snug and just work up the open bottom and get things done. I can’t wait to try this out.
Little Unicorn Swaddle: Have you seen these swaddles- they are beautiful and so soft. I had very cute swaddles with Olivia but these ones were gorgeous. This was something I wanted to invest in for my next baby and I also love to get them for friends as well. I also love that they are light weight so I often use them as blankets, especially in the summer time.
Lucy Darling- Baby book: I got one of these baby books for Olivia and it is adorable. They are well made, easy to keep up on, and very well priced as well. If I was able to keep up on this baby book than anyone can. I am the worst at that kind of stuff but it was important to me to have for her when she was older. Plus they came out with some new designs since Olivia was born.
UppaBaby Vista Stroller: I have the Bugaboo Cameleon right now and it is a great stroller- I love it. But I don’t want to switch over to the donkey- it seems a little to bulky to me. I know you can buy the little skate to add on but Olivia LOVES to be pushed in her stroller. I don’t want her to feel like she is getting booted to walking or even hanging onto that skate part while the baby gets her spot. The Uppababy Vista has where you can add another seat to it- how great is that. You can do so many different configurations as well to find something that works for you. This is still on my wish list because I spent way too much already on Black Friday. Oups- the baby needed it all.
Where did I find all these amazing products? In just one spot- The Baby Cubby. This is a local store here in Utah but I actually bought everything online. I have followed this store on instagram for awhile now and have been to a few of their pop-up shops. I have also watched a few of their periscopes where they have talked about products they have at the store and they also showed some awesome things from the baby convention and were asking their followers for advice on what products we were all curious about and wanting in their store. I love that sense of community that they give to all parents. It really does take a village to raise a family and they are a great member of that village to help.
The Baby Cubbyjust isn’t another baby store, they honestly want to help you on your journey of being a parent. Car seats are something that I really struggle with- there has been times that I have had to remove the base out my car and getting it back in has been a real struggle. I am not that strong to pull it as tight as it needs to be. They have a car seat specialist that you can always stop off at their store and they will check it for you and if anything is wrong they will help you correct it.
They often host pop up shops for other local vendors as well. I love a store that really believes in community and bringing people together. They will have small shops set up at their location and host the event. Their store also likes to support small shops and they often ask their customers if there are products that they want them to carry. That right there is amazing service to me.
Now on Black Friday they were having an amazing sale- everything that I wanted on this list was on sale so I stayed up until 12:01 to make sure I got it all. Now this is where it’s a huge surprise- Saturday afternoon I got a knock on my door and I have 2 packages from The Baby Cubby- I bought this stuff the day before. It was so fast and everything came very well packaged. They offer nationwide free shipping on orders over $49. Which lets be honest as a parent the last thing you really want to do is run to a store and have to get out of your car to do anything. I love to shop in my pjs with my hair in my 2 day old bun and know that I didn’t have to pay for shipping either- win-win.
Check out their blog to see what articles and advice they have to share and also check out their store online.
*This post is sponsored by The Baby Cubby- all thoughts and opinions are my own and honest. These items are truly on the top of my list of must haves for second baby.
